Home-Made Vanilla Extract


This is really very easy to keep in your pantry. All you need are:

A clean glass jar
Vanilla beans,  slit length-wise (cut in half if your jar is small)
Vodka (any cheap vodka works)

Put the beans into the jar, cover with vodka and let it sit in a dark place for 8 weeks or until the vodka turns dark brown. You can top up your extract by just adding more vanilla beans and vodka.
